I am happy to report that the digitization and design optimization of PodRide is progressing well. Mikael is putting in long hours every day (and night) to make it happen. Last week we met for the third time with a highly experienced frame manufacturer and spent the day reviewing all of the custom components that need to be manufactured.
The frame and many components that attach to the frame will be produced using aerospace grade high performance aluminium. This is to reduce the weight of PodRide whilst maintaining strength and durability.
I’d like to tell you about one small aspect of the re-design. We have added a rear bumper bar to PodRide. This will be made from aluminium. It has been designed to protect PodRide and at the same time allow extra functionality as it provides an area for adding an optional tow hitch for those that want to add a trailer to PodRide for more cargo capacity, or a kiddie trailer.
In addition, the bumper bar interface to PodRide is designed to permit other options in the future from ourselves, yourself or third parties. The bumper can be removed and we can add different options at the rear. One idea we have for the future is an external enclosed trunk for lockable cargo storage. Another simpler option would be to create a simple bracket to attach to the bumper, to fit an existing motorbike cargo box like this one…
We are very happy to welcome Antoine to the PodRide Team. Antoine is a highly skilled multi-talented Frenchman. His skill set and expertise include supply chain/sourcing, marketing, web design, photography & videography. And to top it off, Antoine plays guitar and speaks 4 languages: English, Spanish, Mandarin Chinese and of course French.
Antoine will be working on many of the logistics and items that need to be addressed to bring PodRide to market. You can see the quality of Antoine’s work in his first assignment, our newly designed website.
We have just updated our website design. Since May last year it was a very plain website. Having a “pretty” website was a low priority in relation to getting on with the digitization and redesign of PodRide for manufacture. Now that we have expanded the team and have some more resources it was time to upgrade our website and the image that it projects.
